LISA MURPHY
DESIGNER
Kitchen design defines who I am today. My journey began with a childhood love for art and design—drawing, painting, photography, and architecture captivated my imagination and ultimately shaped my career path. My degree in Environmental and Housing Design provided the foundation in construction and interior design that I apply daily. Finding my niche in kitchen and bath design has been a blessing; I’ve devoted over half my life to this fulfilling profession. There’s profound satisfaction in loving what you do.
As a 30-year veteran designer with DDK, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with countless homeowners to create beautiful, functional spaces—from kitchens and bathrooms to family rooms, home offices, and basements. Home remodeling represents both a significant financial investment and an emotional journey. My role is to guide homeowners through this process with confidence and clarity. I begin by establishing trust and ensuring clients feel comfortable with both me and their choices.
Every project presents a unique puzzle. I work closely with you to assemble the pieces by listening attentively to your needs and dreams, offering innovative design concepts and product options, and exploring materials, colors, and style details. The result? A space that authentically reflects your personal style and vision.
My experience spans diverse projects throughout Chicago and beyond, including single rooms and small vintage condos to entire homes, new construction, existing single-family homes, historic properties, and high-rises, as well as collaborations with contractors, architects, builders, and interior designers. I maintain current expertise through extensive training from manufacturers of cabinetry, appliances, countertops, plumbing fixtures, lighting, and tile. This ongoing education keeps me informed about emerging trends and innovative products.
Years of training and professional partnerships have given me comprehensive knowledge of products and construction methods that enhance my design process. The most rewarding moment in my career is standing beside clients in their newly transformed space, witnessing their vision become reality. That special moment—seeing dreams materialize—is why I continue designing today.
The best part of being a designer is to stand with my clients in their new space and see what was once a vision become reality right before them."
