Custom versus Semi-Custom Cabinetry

We find the term “custom cabinetry” generally carries a very positive connotation. Oftentimes it is well earned. Other times, not so much, such as in the cases we see “custom” cabinetry with the finish sprayed onto it in the field. At DDK this is not our practice because we find the results lack the durability of a factory finish.

Not all custom cabinetry is created equal.

Our designers use Dutch Made custom cabinetry. They are a true custom cabinet maker based in Grabill, Indiana. They started building cabinets in a chicken coop in 1975 and now have 600,000 square feet of building capacity.  Today, Dutch Made cabinetry has evolved into a serious player in the custom cabinet market. They offer rock hard finishes and a myriad of door styles. If we can dream it, they will build it!

Should you opt for semi-custom cabinetry?

Semi-custom cabinetry has also come a long way to these days becoming a driving force in the industry. At DDK we offer to design with semi-custom cabinets through Decora because we love their products, and it makes the budgeting easier for our customers. We are an Elite Dealer of Decora, so we have access to all the exclusive door styles, finishes, and their well-made line of inset cabinetry. In addition to their consistently high-quality cabinets, they use the finest drawer glides and hinges, which is just another reason we love to design with Decora.

Over the years, we have become expert at creating unique, one-of-a-kind kitchens with Decora. In fact, from the results you would be hard pressed to tell the difference between the custom and semi-custom cabinets.

Whether you are deciding between having gorgeous, custom cabinetry installed, or are a fan of the more budget-friendly and exclusive semi-custom designs, at DDK we offer the best of both choices. Our designers are here to help you find what is right for your kitchen.
